Lost and Found
YVR's Lost and Found is located at U.S. Departures Level 3, across from check-in counter 280, beside the Nursery. It is open from 09:00 to 17:00 daily.
Submit a lost and found form for items lost within the airport terminals only:
Items left onboard the aircraft or gone missing while under care of your airline (lost baggage, for instance) must be inquired about directly to the airline. For items lost on a taxi, bus, cruise ship or other locations please call or email companies directly.
YVR Lost and Found will hold the item for a maximum of 30 days prior to donating to charities. All personal data will be wiped and deleted prior to the items being donated. Any dangerous goods and perishable items will be handled accordingly.
Be Aware of Fraud
We're aware of a scam where passengers are being asked to pay a fee for filing a Lost and Found item report at Vancouver International Airport / Aéroport international de Vancouver (YVR).
As a reminder:
- The only way to file a Lost and Found report for a lost item at the airport is through YVR.ca.
- There is no cost to submit a Lost and Found report at YVR.
- There may be a cost associated with shipping a lost item back to its owner. Shipment details will be shared with the owner in advance.

How do I report a lost item?
Please submit a lost and found form for items lost within the airport terminals only.
When creating your report, please provide as much detail as possible to identify your item. Include specific information like brands, sizes, styles, and colors. This is especially important for electronic devices like phones, laptops, and tablets. Including details such as the brand, model number, serial number, color, username, and any background photos are crucial in enabling us to match lost property.
Are there any restrictions on the items accepted and/or kept at the airport lost and found department?
The following items will not be kept in the Lost and Found department for sanitary/hygiene reasons:
- perishable items
- soiled garments
- neck pillows
- drinking or food containers

NEXUS Cards are handed over directly to the NEXUS Enrollment Centre located at Vancouver International Airport.
Is there a fee for the airport Lost and Found services?
Lost and Found services are completely free; the only cost is shipping if we need to send the item to you. Shipping rates are provided upfront, so you'll know the cost before making any payment.
Can I edit my lost report after it has been filed?
Yes! After you submit your report, you'll receive an email with the details and a link to access your file. To update your report, simply provide your reference number and the last name under which the report was filed.
How do I check the status of my report?
We will search our inventory for 30 days and email you if we have any potential matches. You can also check the status of your report.
If you did not receive a confirmation email after filing the report, please check your spam or junk folder. You can also review your report to confirm that you entered the correct email address.
How do I go about retrieving a lost item?
Once you’re notified that your item has been found, you can:
- Use the ‘Schedule Pick Up!’ tab to set up a time for you or an authorized third-party to pick up the item in person.
- Choose to have the item mailed back to you via FedEx by clicking the ‘Ship It Back!’ button. Shipping options and rates will be provided for you to review.

What documents or identification do I need to provide to claim my lost item?
When picking up your item, please bring a valid government-issued photo ID and your Lost and Found reference number.
Can someone else pick up the lost item on my behalf?
You can authorize someone else to pick up your items for you. Simply access your report through the provided link and add the person's full name under the ‘Schedule Pick Up’ tab. You can access your report here.
Please make sure the person picking up the item knows they’ll need to present a valid government-issued photo ID and the Lost and Found reference number.
How long do you hold items?
We hold items for a total of 30 days.
How can I arrange and pay for shipping?
If you’re unable to pick up your item in-person, you can arrange for it to be shipped to you. Simply click the Ship It Back! button, enter your shipping details, and securely pay the shipping fees by credit card. Please note: We're unable to ship cash via FedEx. If your item contains cash with a value of CAD $25.00 or more, we'll issue a cheque for the amount and mail it to you separately. Cheques can be issued in Canadian (CAD) or U.S. (USD) dollars. Any other foreign currency will be converted to CAD based on the exchange rate on the processing date, and the cheque will be issued in Canadian dollars. For cash amounts under CAD $25.00, we are unable to issue a cheque, and since it cannot be shipped, the amount will be donated to a local charity through the YVR Social Impact team.
FedEx picks up items Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays.
How do I track the delivery of my shipment?
Shipping services are provided by FedEx. Once your payment is confirmed, you will receive a tracking number. You can monitor your shipment through the online FedEx Tracking.
Can I request to view the CCTV footage from a specific location at Vancouver Airport?
Unfortunately, we’re unable to review CCTV footage. To request camera footage, you will need to file a claim of the missing item with the Richmond Non-Emergency RCMP. You can contact them at 604-278-1212 to submit your claim and request for a review of the footage.
Who can I contact if my item was confiscated at the security checkpoint?
Items considered unsafe for air travel are confiscated b the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) and are not sent to the Lost and Found department. For more details, please visit the CATSA website.
What happens to items that are not claimed after the 30-day period?
We collaborate with a variety of local charities to ensure that unclaimed items are given a second life and find new homes where they can be of use.
For items containing personal information—such as electronics, identification, documents, and similar items—we take extra precautions to protect privacy by securely destroying them to prevent any misuse.
