South Runway Maintenance Schedule
YVR runways require regular, ongoing maintenance. Because of its heavy use, the South Runway requires more repairs and closure time.
2017 Monthly Maintenance
Continuing our runway maintenance requirements, the Airport Authority will be closing the south runway (Runway 08R-26L) on selected nights each month in support of critical maintenance works on the runway and on runway supporting systems. This work is in addition to the regular annual south runway closure during the summer. Monthly dates scheduled for closures are as follows:
- January 25
- February 15
- March 1, 15, 29
- April 12, 26
- May 10, 24
- September 13, 27
- October 11, 25
- November 8, 22
- December 6, 20
This work will require the closure to occur between the hours of 10:00pm and 6:00am. During these hours, landings and take-offs will be moved to the north runway to allow maintenance crews to access the work areas. The Airport Authority acknowledges that some communities may be disturbed by the changes to runway usage during the closures; however, this work is necessary to maintain a high standard of safety for the travelling public. If you would like more information, please contact YVR Noise Management at firstname.lastname@example.org.
