Education and Training

The agreement creates an education-to-employment path between YVR and Musqueam. This includes unique scholarship opportunities as well as an apprenticeship program, which is currently under development.

Musqueam Vancouver Airport Authority Scholarship 

As part of the Musqueam Indian Band - YVR Airport Sustainability and Friendship Agreement, Vancouver Airport Authority provides 10 merit-based scholarships per year to eligible Musqueam Members to study at an accredited post-secondary institution. The awards celebrate diversity and recognize various pathways to achievement including, but not limited to, engagement in the arts, academics, sustainability, leadership, aviation, and/or their community.

Eligibility / Level of Study / Value / Duration:

The Airport Authority Scholarships are available to outstanding Musqueam Indian Band Members. Recipients will be selected based on their ability to demonstrate their openness to continuing to learn who they are, where they come from, their responsibility in carrying forward knowledge in their community, and a commitment to a sustainable future.

Scholarships are available to students entering post baccalaureate programs and other undergraduate programs that are not direct-entry from high school (value up to $10,000 for tuition, books, fees, and program expenses).

Applications for the 2020 scholarship are open until July 31, 2020.
