ILS Flight Checks: April 2021

NAV CANADA is planning to conduct flight checks on the Instrument Landing System (ILS) for the North and South Runways on April 7, 2021. The north runway may be used for departures during this time. The flight checks are subject to operational and weather conditions at YVR.

To assist with landings, the ILS provides critical navigational information for aircraft on approach. Maintenance and flight checks are required to ensure the ILS meets certification standards prescribed by Transport Canada. Flight checks involve a specially-equipped Canadair Regional Jet (CRJ-200) operated by NAV CANADA that may fly multiple simulated approaches to the runway.
