Ferguson Road improvement work

We are leading a number of construction projects to maintain our infrastructure and enhance efficiencies for the benefit of our passengers, partners, tenants, workers, and the broader community.

One of these projects is the Ferguson Road Improvement Work. This project will see us realign and repave the road and create a multi-use pathway to ensure it supports the safe access to Iona Beach Park. The multi-use pathway will run from the McDonald Road Junction to the west end of the airport and includes dedicated lanes for cyclists and pedestrians. The work is scheduled to be complete by April 2024, with paving work taking place from September 2023 through November 2023.

The work also includes the installation of water mains under Ferguson Road. This installation work will begin in the coming days. Access to Ferguson Road for all road users, including cyclists and pedestrians, will be maintained and we are making every effort to reduce the impact of construction on the community, partners, tenants and workers. However, the project will require some detours around construction zones.

Safety and security are our top priorities. Details of the detours to make way for this important work are outlined below. We encourage all road users to always follow signs and direction from traffic personnel. Please note, rougher road surface during construction is expected.

  • Water mains installation work will be carried out from 7:00am to 7:00pm daily with single lane alternating traffic from mid-August 2023 to September 2023.
  • Paving work will be carried out from Grauer Road to McDonald Road Junction from 7:00pm – 7:00am daily with single lane alternating traffic from September 2023 to November 2023.

We are carefully planning and staging our work to minimize the overall project duration, however the exact duration of the work is dependent on several factors, including weather conditions.

All project updates will be shared on this page. Please reach out to [email protected] with questions or concerns.
