Templeton Area Redevelopment Update

Construction Activities: Two Week Period of November 22 to December 3, 2021

Landscaping and tree-planting continue to be the key activities over the next two weeks. Learn about what to expect during construction here. This week’s update, which covers the next two weeks follows below. There is no scheduled update the week of November 29.

We also want to draw your attention to a few enquiries that arose last week and YVR’s response:

  • On Sunday, November 14, as much of B.C.’s lower mainland experienced an atmospheric river event, parts of Burkeville, including the laneway behind Wellington Crescent partially flooded. On receipt of concerns from some of our Wellington Crescent neighbors, YVR coordinated with the City of Richmond to support a response, including arranging for our construction contractor to pump away the excess water the next day. The Burkeville area has a history of flooding at times during the rainy season, and in the past, excess water from Burkeville has drained into YVR lands. This is a long-standing challenge, which the City is working to address. YVR is supporting by working with the City to support a longer-term solution, with more details to come.
  • A new CCTV security camera has been installed near the intersection of Templeton Street and the Terrace Street extension, which will monitor the access gate for YVR operational staff in case they have difficulty manually opening the gate. The camera is directed so that the camera view does not extend to the laneway or any Burkeville residential properties. Please visit our website for more information about YVR’s privacy policy.
