Templeton Area Redevelopment Update

Construction Activities: Week of June 14, 2021

Site work for the Templeton Area Redevelopment continues, with ongoing construction of the Templeton Corridor. Construction activity for this corridor is nearing completion; currently scheduled for end of June 2021, followed by landscaping. Learn more about what to expect during construction here. GENERAL INFORMATION (new updates this week)

Additional work progressed well on Saturday, June 12. It will take place again on Saturday, June 19 (with June 26 as contingency if required) to ensure that all necessary road preparation work is complete in time for scheduled paving dates in the last week of June. This will help limit dust during the summer and avoid the need to re-grade if paving is deferred. For notice of other activities this week, please see detailed update below.

WEEK OF JUNE 14, 2021: WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT 

Areas of focus this week (all weather dependent) include:

New this week:

  • Prepare for Aylmer Road sidewalk area for concrete pour next week.

Continuing this week:

  • Place final base gravels and complete final grading along Templeton multi-use path (deferred from last week, Wellington Cres. residents should expect intermittent noise and vibration; if you would like to enquire about an alternate work location on these dates, please contact [email protected]). 
  • Fine grading along Terrace Street and the new YVR service road in preparation for final paving.
  • Dust monitoring and watering as necessary. 
  • Drainage monitoring.
  • Vehicles and equipment moving throughout the site.

Onsite equipment includes excavators, backhoe loaders, haul trucks, concrete trucks, compacting equipment, a forklift and a mobile crane. Broadband travel alarms are in use on regularly stationed equipment to reduce noise in the area. Traditional tonal alarms may still be heard on equipment and vehicles that travel to and from the site, or equipment that will be onsite for shorter durations.

HOURS OF OPERATION & SCHEDULED ACTIVITIES

Construction takes place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Equipment and machinery are turned on after 7:30 a.m and most work is complete before sunset. An update will be provided if work is required outside of this timeframe.

Please note plans, activities and onsite equipment are subject to change based on evolving project needs and weather. Given the increased frequency of rain, workers may need to come to the site to monitor erosion and ensure the proper flood protections are performing adequately outside of the normal hours of operation.
