Templeton Area Redevelopment Update

Construction Activities: Week of April 19, 2021

Site work on the Templeton Area Redevelopment continues, with ongoing construction of the Templeton Corridor. Construction activities for this phase are scheduled to take place through mid-2021. Learn more about what to expect during construction here. This week's update follows below.

GENERAL INFORMATION (new updates this week)

Work this week will be similar to last week, including elevated noise and vibration levels along the Templeton multi-use path, which are expected to continue through the end of April. See below for this week’s construction details. Crews are also increasing watering efforts to help keep dust levels low. We understand some Burkeville neighbours continue to experience increased dust during strong winds. We acknowledge this inconvenience and are doing our best to put in dust mitigations measures where possible.

WEEK OF APRIL 19, 2021: WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT 

Areas of focus this week (all weather dependent) include:

New this week:

  • Place road base on Terrace Street (includes gravel hauling; grading is now complete).
  • Install electrical ducting and remove old light poles and bases.

Continuing this week:

  • Install catch basins along Aylmer Road and Terrace Street (deferred from last week).
  • Complete hydro tie-ins (50% complete).
  • Regrading along Templeton multi-use path and along future development site; this work causes noise and vibration, within approved limits (scheduled for completion end of April).
  • Install irrigation pipes in areas that will be landscaped (70% complete).
  • Dewatering (generators/pumps), dust monitoring and watering as necessary.
  • Drainage monitoring.
  • Vehicles and equipment moving throughout the site.

Onsite equipment includes excavators, backhoe loaders, haul trucks, concrete trucks, compacting equipment, a forklift and a mobile crane. Broadband travel alarms are in use on regularly stationed equipment to reduce noise in the area. Traditional tonal alarms may still be heard on equipment and vehicles that travel to and from the site, or equipment that will be onsite for shorter durations.

HOURS OF OPERATION & SCHEDULED ACTIVITIES

Construction takes place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Equipment and machinery are turned on after 7:30 a.m. An update will be provided if work is required outside of this timeframe.

Please note plans, activities and onsite equipment are subject to change based on evolving project needs and weather. Given the increased frequency of rain, workers may need to come to the site to monitor erosion and ensure the proper flood protections are performing adequately outside of the normal hours of operation.
