Musqueam Territory / Richmond, B.C. (June 14, 2023): Popular local bakery and brand, Purebread, opened at Vancouver International Airport / Aéroport international de Vancouver (YVR) today as the airport continues on a journey to transform and elevate the passenger culinary experience.
Originating in Whistler and then expanding to multiple locations across the Lower Mainland, Purebread has been a reliable source for freshly baked goods in the community, and this passion for pastry will now be shared with a global audience. The new location at YVR is located near in the International Food Court on Departures Level 3.
“We are delighted that our seventh Purebread location in the Lower Mainland is opening at YVR,” said Mark Lamming, Co-founder and Owner of Purebread. “Our mission from day one remains the same – to bake delicious treats that bring a smile to people’s faces. From sharing baked goods at a small stand at the Whistler Christmas Market to now serving the millions of passengers who travel through Canada’s second busiest airport, this new storefront is an incredible opportunity for our local bakery. We look forward to continuing to create smiles through our sophisticated yet homemade treats at YVR and our six other locations, from Whistler to Vancouver."
Purebread’s vast assortment of breads, cookies, scones and more have already been well-received by many domestic travellers at YVR who have picked up a sweet or savoury treat from Pacific Farms Market, located in the domestic terminal after security. Whether you are gluten free, vegan, or have a sweet tooth, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Their newly opened, permanent storefront will offer an expanded selection of fresh, local baked goods and coffee to more travellers and the community thanks to its convenient location before security screening.
“As we continue to reimagine the culinary experience at YVR, I am thrilled to welcome Purebread to the airport,” said Eric Pateman, Chief Experience Officer and Vice President, Passenger Experience at Vancouver Airport Authority. “Adding best-in-class and beloved local brands has been a key focus for our team, and Purebread embodies our goal of providing unique concepts and dining options that elevate the travel experience and serve our community. I would like to thank Purebread for their partnership and creating a space at YVR where passengers, guests and employees can enjoy their inspired menu that is unmistakably made in Vancouver."
The food and beverage transformation journey at YVR has already begun, with 14 new openings in the last 18 months, including Salmon n’ Bannock On The Fly, The Dirty Apron, Pacific Farms Market and Japadog. These additions feature fresh, healthy, locally made grab-and-go items for travellers to enjoy in the terminal and onboard their aircraft. YVR is thrilled to add Purebread to this list and is eager to continue this transformation in the coming years.
