Musqueam Territory / Richmond, B.C. (June 1, 2023): Today Vancouver International Airport (YVR) celebrated the inaugural flight of Air Canada’s new route between YVR and Washington DC, bringing more connectivity and flexibility for travel to one of the biggest economic cities in the U.S
The new route offers five-times weekly service to this U.S. hub, departing YVR at 8:15 a.m. and departing Washington DC (IAD) at 5:10 p.m. All times local.
“We are excited to be a part of Air Canada’s expanding network with yet another important new route as they launch YVR to Washington Dulles”, said Russ Atkinson, Director of Air Service Development at YVR. “As a key economic hub and world class destination for arts and culture, this new route offers travellers a new connection from the Pacific Northwest to Washington DC and further expands Air Canada’s far-reaching hub network at YVR.”
“Air Canada is very pleased to be the leading carrier between Canada and the U.S., and we are exceptionally thrilled to launch the only non-stop flights linking YVR to the U.S. Capitol area,” said Alexandre Lefevre, Vice President of Network Planning at Air Canada. “In addition to international business, Washington is renowned for its iconic buildings, arts, culture and leisure activities. We have optimized connections through our YVR hub to give customers convenient travel options to visit Washington and likewise for Washingtonians, an easy way to visit beautiful BC and beyond. In partnership with United Airlines, customers can also connect through Dulles to destinations beyond. Welcome onboard!”
The YVR-IAD route will be operated on an Air Canada Boeing 737 MAX 8, with seat capacity for 169 passengers, and will contribute an additional $1.2 million in taxes and $5.7 million in GDP.
