Today, Iskwew Air and Vancouver International Airport / Aéroport international de Vancouver (YVR) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that strengthens the working relationship between the Indigenous, woman-owned airline and the airport.
The MOU between Iskwew Air and YVR is based on collaboration to enhance connectivity across communities in B.C. and will see the two organizations share best practices and knowledge in the areas of marketing and communications, operational innovations, and sustainability. The journey to a more sustainable industry ecosystem will begin with joint efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and advance both organizations’ climate and sustainability goals, such as YVR’s Net Zero by 2030 objective.
“This historic agreement is about so much more than an agreement between an airline and an airport, this is a demonstration of what is possible for a collective future,” said Teara Fraser, Founder of Iskwew Air. “We look forward to continuing to connect people with each other and the land alongside our friends at YVR. We know, together we can transform the aviation industry into one that is based on reciprocity, relationships and sustainability. This is the future taking flight.”
This agreement also signals a stronger partnership, one that acknowledges the power of unique perspectives, accountability, and a shared vision to support the development of Indigenous businesses and a sustainable Indigenous tourism economy, thus supporting the economic recovery of our province.

Iskwew Air received the blessing from Musqueam to operate on their traditional unceded territory on September 21, 2018 and began chartered operations in October 2019. In 2021, Iskwew Air marked its inaugural commercial flight from YVR. Iskwew Air operates from the airport’s South Terminal, offering daily scheduled service between Vancouver and Qualicum Beach on Vancouver Island.
