As of February 27 at 9:01 p.m. PT, fully vaccinated travellers returning to Canada will see a reduction in random arrivals testing at the airport, and those selected for testing will no longer have to quarantine while they await results. Travellers will also now have more affordable options in rapid antigen testing for pre-departure requirements, and children under 12 traveling with vaccinated parents will no longer have to quarantine. Additionally, the Government of Canada is changing its travel advisory and will no longer advise against travel, and instead encourage travellers to take necessary precautions.
This is a strong positive step in the government’s risk-based, measured approach to reopening travel and tourism for Canada that is backed by science. At YVR, we will continue to work with our many partners to implement these measures and keep our community informed about what the journey will look like. We are particularly appreciative of the Government of Canada’s decision to make these changes in advance of Spring Break as Canadians can now begin to plan their future travel adventures.
At YVR we are committed to protecting the health of our passengers, employees and the community. We look forward to continued engagement with the federal government as these measures evolve.
