Air Canada expands service across North America and Europe from YVR

Today, Air Canada announced an expansion of its North American and European networks for Summer 2022 with new and returning service to 10 destinations from Vancouver International Airport / Aéroport international de Vancouver (YVR).

Across the U.S. and Canada, Air Canada is launching new nonstop service to Austin and Halifax. Returning flights include service to Anchorage, Boston, Quebec City, Sacramento and Yellowknife. In Europe, Air Canada is restoring service to Dublin, Frankfurt and Zurich.

This wave of announcements further signals the return to travel and the readiness of travellers to reconnect across North America and Europe for both business and leisure.

“We’re thrilled to see Air Canada add new destinations and bring back popular routes, offering even more travel options for our community through the already expansive network at YVR,” said Mike McNaney, Vice President, External Affairs at Vancouver Airport Authority / L'Administration de l’aéroport de Vancouver. “I would like to thank Air Canada, our long term-partner, for continuously providing exciting connections to and from YVR, strengthening our position as a hub and directly benefiting our community and the economy that supports it. As these important investments in service take to the sky in the coming months, our entire industry will continue to support further progress on federal travel and border measures.”

The inaugural flight to Austin will take off in June 2022 and operate four times weekly. This will mark the first time in YVR’s history that an airline has served Austin with direct service, linking these two burgeoning tourism and tech communities. Like Vancouver, Austin is a tech destination, earning itself the name “Silicon Hills” with the likes of Facebook, Google, Dell, and Tesla all having anchored headquarters within its city limits.

Air Canada’s additional new and returning routes commence in Spring/Summer of 2022.
