YVR outlines latest travel measures for international arrivals at Canada’s second busiest airport

Vancouver Airport Authority today confirmed that, with direction from the Government of Canada, it is working with its many partners to conduct COVID-19 testing for all fully vaccinated passengers arriving from an international destination at Vancouver International Airport / Aéroport international de Vancouver (YVR).

This measure is in addition to a number of existing travel requirements in place at YVR, which are outlined by the Government and focused on keeping communites safe.

“When we were advised by Government last week about increases to international arrivals testing, we took immediate action to determine how we would expand our testing capacity. This includes building out our registration and testing areas at the airport and adding more staff to guide passengers through the process,” said Robyn McVicker, Vice President, Passenger Journey at Vancouver Airport Authority. “At YVR, the health and safety of our passengers, workers and community is our top priority. We will continue to follow Government direction on travel measures and encourage passengers to be prepared, be patient and have confidence—YVR and our partners are ready to deliver a safe, seamless experience.”

Vancouver Airport Authority recognizes that more people are getting back to travel with vaccinations in Canada on the rise and encourages everyone to prepare for their trip in advance.

In addition to knowing the requirements of where travellers are going, YVR is reminding them to also prepare for returning home as passing through Canada’s border will look different and may take a little longer.

Fully vaccinated travellers arriving from an international destination can think of preparing for their journey into Canada through YVR in three simple steps:

  1. Use ArriveCAN to provide pre-departure COVID testing and vaccination information as well as a quarantine plan.
  2. Pre-register for arrivals testing; information about COVID-19 testing at YVR is available here.
  3. Know that YVR and its partners are prepared to get travellers on their way as safely and quickly as possible.

YVR supports the Government of Canada’s safe, measured and risk-based approach to travel and tourism. Vancouver Airport Authority continues to work with its many partners to implement and expand ongoing measures so everyone can move through YVR safely and with confidence.

Earlier this year, YVR received the COVID-19 Airport Award of Excellence from Skytrax, the only airport in Canada to do so, for providing the highest health, hygiene and safety protocols during the pandemic.
