YVR Welcomes New Air Canada Double Daily Denver Service

Service offers added convenient connections to the Mile High City

Today, Vancouver International Airport (YVR) celebrated the inaugural flight of Air Canada’s new route between YVR and Denver International Airport (DEN). This new nonstop, year-round service is launching with double-daily flights and is timed to conveniently connect with Air Canada’s domestic and international schedule at YVR.

“This new service to Denver further showcases Air Canada’s transborder growth at YVR while adding additional travel options for our passengers,” said Craig Richmond, President and CEO, Vancouver Airport Authority. “The fact that Air Canada is starting this service with two flights a day is impressive and shows their confidence in the route and the passenger demand in both markets.”

This route uses the Air Canada Express’ 75-seat, Wi-Fi equipped Bombardier CRJ-705 aircraft, offering business and economy seating and on-demand touch screen entertainment. This new service benefits the local economy by creating 239 jobs at the airport and at hotels, restaurants, shops and tourist attractions. In addition, the service contributes $13.9 million to B.C.’s GDP.

“Air Canada is delighted to launch our year-round, non-stop flights between YVR and Denver as part of our ongoing strategic expansion at YVR. Denver is one of the fastest growing cities in the U.S., and there are many affinities for both business and leisure between both regions. Additionally, customers travelling from the Denver area can connect easily and seamlessly at our YVR trans-Pacific hub to our extensive domestic and international network, especially to Asia,” said Benjamin Smith, President, Passenger Airlines at Air Canada.

Denver, the capital city of Colorado, is known for its unique position in a metropolitan area while being at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, offering a diverse travel destination. Denver is popularly believed to see 300 days of sunshine in a year making it an attractive option for travellers who want to explore the outdoor playground.

In addition to the new Denver service, Air Canada introduced service to Dallas in February and increased service to Los Angeles and San Jose to six and three times daily respectively, both on May 1, 2017. In addition, Air Canada will launch the following international routes out of YVR this year: Taipei, Nagoya, Frankfurt, London Gatwick and Melbourne.

New services such as these are made possible thanks to YVR’s new five-year rates and charges program, ConnectYVR. The program provides a highly competitive rate structure and includes rates lower than any other major airport in Canada and competing US airports.
