Sunwing and YVR Celebrate New Service between Vancouver and Montego Bay

New service is Vancouver’s only direct flight to iconic Jamaican destination

Today, Vancouver International Airport / Aéroport international de Vancouver (YVR) and Sunwing celebrated the start of the airline’s new, seasonal service to Montego Bay Jamaica – Sangster International Airport (MBJ), marking the only direct route from Vancouver to this exciting destination.

“We are thrilled to welcome a great new route from our friends at Sunwing,” said Anne Murray, YVR’s Vice President of Marketing and Communications. “This new service marks our only direct flight to Jamaica, an amazing destination that offers an incredible getaway for our passengers. I would like to thank Sunwing for making this possible and for providing more connections and benefits for our passengers.”

The new seasonal service will operate once a week, from December 19, 2017 to April 17 2018, using a Boeing 737-800 aircraft with 189 seats. The flight will depart YVR at 06:00, arriving at MBJ at 15:40; the return flight will depart MBJ at 19:30, arriving at YVR at 23:59.

President of Tour Operations for Sunwing, Andrew Dawson, also welcomed the news. “Combining world-class beaches with a wide selection of leading resorts—many of which we offer exclusively—Jamaica is consistently one of our most popular vacation destinations. We are very pleased that Vancouverites will be able to take advantage of a dedicated weekly Sunwing flight this winter to experience some of the island’s newest resorts such as Royalton Negril, Sensatori Azul Beach Jamaica and Riu Reggae.”
