Yee haw! Air Canada adds service between YVR and Dallas Fort Worth

Airline bolsters its Asia-Pacific hub in Vancouver by adding flight to fourth-busiest U.S. airport

Vancouver International Airport (YVR) today welcomes Air Canada’s news that it is adding daily, non-stop service between YVR and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), Texas, starting Monday, February 6, 2017. As well as serving passengers travelling between the two cities, the latest addition to Air Canada’s schedule is timed to connect Dallas Fort Worth travellers to and from the airline’s Asian flights out of YVR.

“YVR and Air Canada are perfectly aligned in that we share a vision for YVR as a gateway between Asia and the Americas,” said Craig Richmond, President and CEO, Vancouver Airport Authority. “Air Canada’s latest announcement proves that our work to lower airline rates and charges, create facilities which speed up passenger connections and assist airlines market new services is clearly paying off.”

The new Air Canada flights between Vancouver and Dallas Fort Worth come on the back of the airline’s rapid expansion at B.C.’s largest airport. In 2016, the carrier has launched service between Vancouver and Dublin, Brisbane, Chicago, San Diego and San Jose and begins flights to Delhi in October.

All new flights added at YVR provide a financial boost to the city and province. Vancouver Airport Authority expects the new Dallas Fort Worth flight to create 53 jobs at the airport and at hotels, restaurants, shops and tourist attractions. In addition, the service will contribute $3.5 million to B.C.’s GDP.

The new flights will be operated on Air Canada Express’ 75-seat, wi-fi equipped Bombardier CRJ-705 aircraft, offering business and economy seating and on-demand touch screen entertainment to every passenger.

"Air Canada is pleased to announce a new Canadian destination from Dallas Fort Worth with the addition of Vancouver to our existing Toronto service,” said Benjamin Smith, President, Passenger Airlines, at Air Canada. “Our new Vancouver service will offer travellers convenient connections to our non-stop flights to Beijing, Shanghai, Seoul, Tokyo (Narita) and Hong Kong, as well as to a multitude of destinations across Western Canada including easy access to Canada's Rocky Mountains for skiing adventures this coming winter. The seamless connections through in-transit preclearance facilities and competitive elapsed travel times make Air Canada and Vancouver a preferred trans-Pacific option for travel. Air Canada is the foreign carrier operating the most flights to the U.S., carrying the most customers and serving the most destinations."
