YVR exists to serve our community and the economy that supports it, and we recognize our opportunity and responsibility to work in partnership with Musqueam, whose traditional territory YVR is situated.
Our work in this capacity starts with reconciliation—taking action to advance a story that we want to tell and acting with intention toward the legacy we want to leave.
Together with Musqueam, we are working towards true reconciliation and a mutually beneficial future year-round, every single day. For Indigenous History Month, we are taking the opportunity to celebrate Musqueam culture, share knowledge, and put into the focus the many ways, both new and existing, that we collaboratively create education-to-employment opportunities, support sustainable Indigenous-owned businesses, and engage in Indigenous protocols across our operation while encouraging our partners to do the same.
In June, we’ll also mark the fifth anniversary of the Musqueam Indian Band - YVR Airport Sustainability and Friendship Agreement. The first of its kind, the 30-year agreement acknowledges the past while also looking ahead with continued commitment to reconciliation and to pursuing opportunities that will strengthen our partnership and our community. While our work started long before this agreement, we have accomplished and learned so much in the last five years alongside our Musqueam friends.
As Canada commemorates Indigenous History Month, we look forward to continuing the story of our journey and sharing our plans for a future filled with shared success, support, and authentic reconciliation for the benefit of everyone.

- June is Pride month! The Musqueam Pride flag, with a design created by Musqueam’s kʷəlasəltən (Mack Paul), is raised outside of our domestic terminal in support of the LGBTQ+ community.
- YVR will be signing a historic Memorandum of Understanding with the first Indigenous woman owned airline, Iskwew Air.
- YVR will also be giving you, our community, the chance to participate in Indigenous History Month by attending the Musqueam market that will be returning to our terminal.
