2021 was year of continued change in our industry and region as we moved through a global pandemic. Looking ahead, we expect that COVID-19 and its impacts will continue to evolve and aviation will likely remain one of the industries hardest hit.
We anticipate passenger traffic will likely not resemble the same shape or volume as pre-pandemic. We understand that our YVR team and airport community has ever-changing needs and expectations of the workplace. We know people are seeking greener alternatives. We also acknowledge the past and are working with Musqueam Nation, whose traditional, ancestral and unceded territory YVR sits upon, to advance the airport as a platform that enables our community to connect and thrive.
Through 2024, we will continue to build on what we learned over the past 12 months while re-conceptualizing and amplifying our role as a diversified hub that connects people, cargo, data, ideas, and community.
This will see us continue to focus on the six strategic streams established in 2021. At the same time, we will filter our work through four lenses: digital, climate, financial sustainability and reconciliation, so that we emerge from this pandemic as a greener, stronger, more diversified and sustainable business, ready to serve our community.
