Vancouver International Airport / Aéroport international de Vancouver (YVR) is pleased to be donating $25,000 to the Canadian Red Cross and the extraordinary efforts being made to keep residents affected by the record wildfire season safe.
We want to thank the volunteers working day in and day out to ensure those forced to flee from the devastation have food, shelter and safety. The funds donated by YVR will help in providing emergency shelter, financial assistance and basic needs (such as groceries, clothing, baby products and gas) for affected households.
“YVR is B.C.’s airport and we are committed to serving our community. We recognize there are so many British Columbians affected by the wildfires and our team felt it was important to contribute to relief efforts for people impacted across the province,” said Tamara Vrooman, President & CEO, Vancouver International Airport / Aéroport international de Vancouver. “We will continue to provide critical infrastructure and assist however we can as an airport to ensure we are providing support for communities across B.C..”
The $25,000 comes out of YVR’s community investment program which provides funding for several local organizations through donations and scholarships. YVR is proud to support our community and committed to investing in organizations and causes aligned with our values as an organization.
Until December 31, all donations made to Red Cross’ 2021 British Columbia Fires appeal will be matched by the Government of British Columbia. If you would like to donate to the Canadian Red Cross and support British Columbia's fire response, follow this link.
