Plan ahead: leave extra time when travelling to YVR this holiday season

Snow and Boxing Days sales are in the forecast! If you’re heading to the airport, be sure to plan ahead.

McArthurGlen Designer Outlet near YVR is hosting its annual Boxing Day sale, which extends from December 26 through January 2. This falls into our peak holiday travel period and, with the added consideration of snow, we expect it may take longer to get to and from the airport. We’re encouraging those who are heading to the airport during this period to plan ahead and allow ample time to factor in traffic, parking and walking to the terminal.

Here are some recommendations for heading to the airport:

  • Check the status of your flight on your airline’s website or the flight information on yvr.ca before coming to YVR. Please note that winter weather in the province or other parts of the country can impact flights.
  • If driving, leave extra time getting to the airport, whether flying out or picking up a loved one
  • Consider taking the Canada Line, a short 26-minute train ride from downtown Vancouver
  • Reminder for those planning to plan to park at YVR that there have been recent parking changes. We recommend having a parking plan and reserving your spot in advance at yvr.ca/parking to guarantee your preferred lot.
