Testing Study Nears Launch at YVR

Working with leading experts like UBC on a formal research study requires rigorous oversight and approvals. Our WestJet-YVR COVID-19 Testing Study is currently under review with UBC’s Research Ethics Board (REB)—an independent committee who will ensure this study meets the highest principles of research ethics. This process is critically important to ensuring our study collects data that is useful to government and health authorities.

As we await final REB approvals, our team is busy getting the details ready. This included the arrival and installation of our 40-foot, Care Pod facility yesterday—a major milestone in our planning and preparedness. Located just outside WestJet’s domestic check-in area, the Care Pod will act as our testing station for the study. It offers a private, safe and comfortable environment to carry out testing, complete with climate control and HEPA filters.

We are looking forward to working with our study partners UBC and WestJet, in an effort to further instill confidence in those who need to travel, support public health efforts, and help inform future solutions for COVID-19. We will be providing more information about the study soon, including details on availability, requirements and more, and look forward to sharing news in the days ahead.
