While COVID-19 has created unprecedented challenges for tourism, air travel and cargo, YVR’s partners have remained committed to the environment.
With funding support from Vancouver Airport Authority / L'Administration de l’aéroport de Vancouver, we’re pleased to share that six businesses operating on Sea Island have become Climate Smart certified this year.
Congratulations to Fairmont Vancouver Airport, Pacific Gateway Hotel, UPS, Highland Helicopters, Fortune Way Group and Rocksolid Landsculpting! These businesses have trained staff, calculated their carbon footprint and identified actions to reduce their impact on the climate. Examples of this include converting to LED lighting, consolidating travel, buying locally and engaging staff in energy-efficient practices.
They are among 62 Sea Island businesses that have participated the Climate Smart program at YVR since 2015. Many of these businesses are also taking steps to reduce their waste and water consumption through our Project Green YVR Programs and have signed on as YVR Green Partners.
Keep up the good, green work!
