Today marked a significant milestone in YVR’s commitment to serving communities across the country as we became the first airport to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC).
The signing event, which included special guests and partners who are working closely with YVR and ITAC in our shared vision, was the beginning of a new partnership that will look at how we can better support Canada’s culturally rich Indigenous tourism industry. It recognizes the valuable role YVR and industry partners play in connecting Canada’s Indigenous communities with the world, through an industry effort focused on collaboration, accountability and a shared vision to support and drive the economic recovery.
The partnership contains a broad range of initiatives, including support for local and global marketing initiatives, market intelligence and data sharing. But most importantly, it signifies our shared efforts to support Indigenous communities as we look to the future and the opportunities ahead.
We are proud to embark on this new path with ITAC and look forward to working closely with our many partners including the Musqueam people, whose traditional, ancestral and unceded territory we are on, to uphold our commitment and our vision of shared success.
Thank you to everyone who made this agreement possible, to everyone who attended our special event and to our communities for the ongoing support.
