Rain or shine, come join us for the annual Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup, happening this Saturday, September 21st! Organized by YVR and Ocean Wise, the cleanup will take place at Iona Beach Regional Park.
This event is meant to raise awareness about pollution in our oceans and on our beaches, and the impact that can have on the nature and wildlife that preserve it. This cleanup is just a part of the effort that it takes to help keep Iona Beach a sustainable Regional Park. Since 2012, over 2,500 kg of litter has been collected from the shorelines of Sea Island.
The event is running from 10 AM to 1 PM, with registration beginning at 9:30 AM. Free lunch and coffee will be provided. Water refilling stations are also available – just don’t forget to bring your reusable mug or water bottle! Free shuttle buses will be running from Canada Line Templeton Station to the park, there will be a bike valet set up and the park itself has limited parking.
