Harbour Air and magniX make history at YVR

Harbour Air and magniX made history yesterday by successfully flying the world’s first all-electric commercial plane from YVR’s South Terminal.

A small crowd watched as Harbour Air’s Founder and CEO, Greg McDougall, took a beautiful bright yellow retrofitted DHC-2 de Havilland Beaver float plane to the air for a few minutes. The test-flight was a significant milestone for our partners at Harbour Air and we’re thrilled to have witnessed the future of aviation right here at YVR.

As a long-time partner of YVR, Harbour Air has demonstrated a leadership role in its environmental responsibility for seaplanes around the world. In 2007, they became North America’s first carbon neutral airline.

Being leaders in sustainability is an important part of how we operate our airport. And we remain committed to reduce our emissions while also supporting our partners in addressing climate change and ensuring we are at the forefront of a cleaner and more sustainable aviation sector.

Congratulations to both the Harbour Air and magniX teams on this historical moment. We look forward to continuing to champion your success!
