If you’ve taken the Canada Line to YVR recently you’ve probably noticed something new as you walk towards the terminal. We have collaborated with our community partner Ocean Wise (the parent organization of Vancouver Aquarium) to install an experiential art exhibit as you enter the Domestic Terminal Building. You’ll notice the new and exciting kelp forest installation with some sneaky sea lions swaying and diving around you as you walk along the walls.
As a community-based, not-for-profit organization, we donate more than $1 million annually to our community partners to help better our community and support the people and organizations who make us who we are. This collaboration with Ocean Wise helps us demonstrate that “respecting the ocean, it’s our thing too”.
This installation is also an effort to delight passengers with unique and exciting experiences and visuals, falling under our award-winning Sense of Place theme. Our community partnership with Ocean Wise also encompasses our other impact initiatives such as the annual Shoreline Cleanup and the renowned YVR aquarium and jellyfish exhibit.
If you’re coming to the airport soon, make sure to take a “swim” of this super neat underwater experience on your way to and from the train. Happy travels!
