Celebrating the Historic YVR-Musqueam Agreement

Two years ago today, YVR signed the historic Musqueam Indian Band - YVR Airport Sustainability and Friendship Agreement. It's a 30-year agreement based on friendship and respect to achieve a sustainable and mutually beneficial future for our community. This agreement includes a number of scholarships, new jobs and one per cent of annual revenue share from YVR. It also includes identification and protection of archeological resources and support for ongoing operations and long-term development at the airport.

"I had my expectations when we signed the agreement, but I think we're five years ahead of that already," Wayne Sparrow, Chief, Musqueam Indian Band.

The Musqueam people have always played an integral role in YVR’s business operations, which is why this agreement is important for ensuring an ongoing mutually beneficial relationship for both parties.

To anyone arriving at YVR today, Welcome to the homeland of the Musqueam people and to YVR. ʔəm̓i ce:p kʷətxʷiləm ʔi ʔə tə n̓a šxʷməθkʷəy̓əmaʔł təməxʷ,  ʔi tə n̓a YVR.
