YVR Welcomes Iskwew Air

On September 21, YVR welcomed Iskwew Air, Canada’s first Indigenous woman-owned airline. The event, which took place at our South Terminal, featured blessings from Elders of the Musqueam Indian Band and Métis Nation, as well as comments from Iskwew Air CEO Teara Fraser and YVR South Terminal Superintendent John Buckle.

Starting in March 2019, Iskwew Air will be operating charter service out of YVR’s South Terminal and will also provide short-haul flights to specific destinations with its Piper Navajo aircraft. Iskwew—the Cree word for woman—celebrates the reclamation of womanhood, matriarchal leadership, and language. At YVR, we are committed to supporting women in management and we are proud to partner with such a great company.

Congratulations from everybody at YVR—we look forward to our shared success!
