“Through the Aviators” is a blog series created and written by the 2018 YVR Flight Crew. It will be composed of installments documenting our interactions and adventures at our 2018 Summer Festival Series events. Stay tuned for weekly stories and recaps!
This past weekend, the YVR Flight Crew kicked off summer festival season with a double event: Hats Off Day and Marpole Day. It was a weekend filled with food, live music, and diverse crowds. At YVR, we are proud to support these events that provide local businesses an opportunity to give back to the community and connect people together.
Hats Off Day
Voted as Burnaby’s ‘best’ and largest festival, Hats Off Day began with a 10 block parade spanning from Boundary Road to Gamma Avenue with various participants including: The Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Burnaby North Viking Band, and the Squamish Nation Canoe Family. Festival goers showed excitement as they paraded through offerings of food from all over the world including donairs, spring rolls, and even a spit roast pig! The YVR Flight Crew was excited to share our Get Packing activation which included a chance to win 2 FREE round-trip tickets to either Shenzhen, Tianjin, and Mexico City.
Marpole Day
Nested in the warm neighborhood of Marpole, the community gathered for family-oriented celebrations of carnival games, balloons, and live entertainment. Children were particularly excited to spin our trivia wheel in which we promoted two exciting destinations: Mexico City and Shenzhen. Check out our last blog to see where the Flight Crew will be landing next.
