Through the Aviators: Part 2

“Through the Aviators” is a blog series created and written by the 2017 YVR Flight Crew. It will be composed of installments documenting our interactions and adventures at our 2017 Summer Festival Series events. Stay tuned for weekly stories and recaps!

Sapperton Day

On June 11th, 2017, the YVR Flight Crew took flight to Sapperton Day Street Festival in historic New Westminster, otherwise known as the Royal City. For its 15th consecutive year, Sapperton Day delivered a family fun atmosphere with local performers, pancake breakfast, cultural food trucks and even a marching band drum line! The multiple interactive inflatables, like the bouncy castle and wrecking ball, provided a lively experience for the little ones. All proceeds generated by the festival were donated to the Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation in support of critically needed medical equipment, research and innovation.

Sapperton Day gave the Flight Crew a taste of what the busy summer festival season will be like as it was the busiest event we have attended so far. Many children and adults alike challenged our brain testing trivia game with brand new questions based on YVR’s flights to places such as: Nagoya, Auckland and Hong Kong. The fun doesn’t stop there as many trivia participants (and their dogs!) entered our social media contest for free flights. The YVR Flight Crew had an awesome time at Sapperton Day 2017 and we can’t wait until our next community festival!
