Spirit Lake

Photo of the Month: Spirit Lake

Submitted via email by Terry Milos, this stunning pic snapped from an airplane window captures the spectacular Spirit Lake in Carcross, Yukon as seen from thousands of feet in the air.

The truly shocking blues and greens of the lake water are what makes this snapshot special. Surrounded by an expanse of wilderness, the lake is like a precious gem stone found nestled among the trees.

Carcross itself (once called Caribou Crossing) is a fascinating community that lies on the Klondike Highway between Whitehorse and Skagway, Alaska and offers a variety of historic attractions and outdoor activities. Caribou Crossing was also a station for the Royal Mail and the Dominion Telegraph Line, and it served as a communications point on the Yukon River.

We are putting up a new round of pics soon! If you want your pic of Canada from the Air to maybe end up on the wall at YVR submit via twitterFacebook or Instagram and use the hashtag #YVRCanada.
