2021 Strategic Plan
Around the world, commercial aviation continues to face the impacts of COVID-19 with dramatic reductions in passenger and flight volumes. The emergence of new vaccines provides a glimmer of hope for recovery. Yet, most countries continue to impose travel restrictions at the national level and many local health authorities are adjusting mobility and safety protocols regularly in response to COVID case numbers.
While airports are adapting to changing travel requirements and measures, often in short order and resulting in many industry innovations, it’s clear that impacts to travel will be with us well into 2021 and beyond.
YVR has a long history of success, recognized for innovation, growth and reflecting the very best of our region while at the same time serving our community and the economy that supports it by enabling trade, tourism and the exchange of knowledge. Part of this success has centered on comprehensive long-term plans that considered large capital investments designed to generate long term value as well as passenger forecasts, stakeholder priorities, industry trends and economic outlooks. However, the pandemic has called on us to re-examine our assumptions for the future and our planned response to them.
Against this backdrop, we are launching our 2021 Strategic Plan. While we are used to thinking in decades, not months, we will take this year to truly understand every aspect of our business and ensure it is designed to thrive in the future.
Organized into six strategic areas of focus, our 2021 Strategic Plan outlines how we will lay the ground work this year to set us up for success, with flexibility to test and adjust so we can plan for the longer term in 2022 and beyond.
