Diversity
Vancouver Airport Authority strives to create a workplace that reflects the diversity of the community we serve. We support the Employment Equity Act and take measures to ensure fair employment practices and treatment of employees across our organization.
The Airport Authority reports its workforce demographics to the federal government each year, showing how each of the designated groups is represented. These demographics are taken from a survey supplied to each employee to complete voluntarily in confidence. As such, numbers are based upon employees’ self identification as a member of a designated group – namely, women, aboriginal peoples, persons with disabilities and members of visible minorities.
On an ongoing basis, the Airport Authority addresses the issue of workplace diversity through several initiatives including:
- Supporting a committee whose members meet regularly to find ways to communicate the importance of employment equity both within the organization and beyond
- Distributing employment postings to at least 15 outreach organizations representing the designated groups
- Developing partnerships with organizations like the Greater Vancouver Business Leadership Network and the Musqueam Band
- Providing employees with career opportunities by promoting within whenever possible
The Airport Authority is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadian citizens and permanent residents will be given priority.
