We were recently made aware of a passenger at YVR who had a hard time finding affordably-priced feminine hygiene products at YVR. This shouldn’t happen.
Pricing and availability of feminine hygiene products is something we are already working to improve following a terminal-wide audit conducted in December. We identified the need to add more vending machines to our facilities and are working towards placing one in every women’s washroom at YVR. Passengers can rest assured we are working to address this gap in service.
We also conducted a review of pricing and availability in December for feminine hygiene products at all commercial vendors at the airport to ensure they were charging fair market prices. At that time we found eight vendors selling feminine hygiene products at a cost of $2.99 to $7.99 for various 10-packs of tampons and pads. That any passenger was charged $12.99 for a package of feminine hygiene products is inconsistent with the results of our pricing audit in December, and we have already confirmed this specific vendor has dropped the price.
If any passenger ever needs anything at the airport they can visit the nearest info counter for assistance. On January 10th, we worked with our operations team to stock tampons and pads at all information counters throughout the airport. These products are now available free of charge as a courtesy service should anybody need one. Passengers can also call 604.207.7077 or tweet us @yvrairport any time of day and we will assist as best we can with any request.
Our passengers are our community. If anybody ever needs anything at the airport we will try to help as best we can.
