Terminal Expansions
YVR’s terminal is undergoing exciting expansions and upgrades that will bring more amenities for our passengers and airlines while maintaining YVR’s award-winning airport experience.
YVR has come a long way since its humble beginning as a small administration building with one runway in 1931. The airport is now the largest building in B.C. and the second busiest airport in the country. To accommodate this growth, we are embarking on multi-year construction to ensure we are able to offer the same level of exceptional service our customers and partners have come to expect.
YVR’s terminal plan is based on building in an incremental and centralized manner which provides the opportunity to adapt the plan based on passenger growth. A centralized expansion means one terminal, all interconnected, with the shortest possible distance between gates. This also means linked baggage systems and easy connections between International, Domestic and Transborder areas.
