YVR has been tidying the Templeton site for some time, as we have decommissioned the Templeton building and have been relocating services elsewhere on Sea Island. Work is required to remediate the land to prepare it for redevelopment. Work will begin on Monday, October 1, 2018, to remove an estimated 25 underground storage tanks that were left from the Royal Canadian Airforce Base. Diggers will be onsite and parts of Templeton Field will be fenced off during this work. This work will take place between the hours of 8 AM and 6 PM. Some work will be some noise disturbances from this work.
The old Templeton Building will continue to be decommissioned and crews will be working inside the building to remove hazardous materials. All materials will be safely removed, contained and transported. We do not expect any noise impacts from this work.
As a result of the Templeton Building decommissioning, a new fibre optic IT feed is required for the Wildlife facilities. Work will include digging a trench (one day of work) with contractors onsite for approximately three days total. This work will take place on a weekday between the hours of 8 AM and 6 PM sometime between September 27 and October 10, 2018.
