Eight B.C. First Nations youth artists recently received scholarships of $5,000 each from the YVR Art Foundation.
This past Tuesday, Vancouver Airport Authority welcomed two very special guests, Valerie and Michelle, to YVR. Valerie Malesku and Michelle Stoney are the winners of our first street banner contest celebrating B.C.’s First Nations art. Valerie and Michelle’s banner designs were unveiled at The Spirit of Haida Gwaii: The Jade Canoe.
The results are in and the YVR Art Foundation’s annual scholarship program that supports young, emerging Aboriginal artists in British Columbia announced its 2012 award recipients.
YVR is proud of its First Nations heritage and showcases this relationship through the art displayed at the airport for all to enjoy. Through its sponsorship of the YVR Art Foundation (YVRAF), the Airport Authority continues to support young artists encouraging them to excel in their craft.
