For the second year in a row, we’re donning our pointy party hats (but not so pointy that security would confiscate them) and celebrating YVR’s ranking as the Best Airport in North America.
The win was announced today as part of the 2011 Skytrax World Airport Awards in Copenhagen, and is based on an independent survey of more than 11.38 million travellers from 100 countries.
The annual customer survey rates airports on 39 different criteria, including: accessibility, public transportation options, cleanliness, comfort, friendliness of staff, clarity of signage and other amenities.
Winning a Skytrax award is an important achievement that airports around the world strive for because the judges are our most important customers: travellers.
Not only did we take the title of Best North American Airport, but YVR also placed second for Staff Service Excellence in North America, and our very own Fairmont Vancouver Airport was also named the Best Airport Hotel in North America.
It was you that ultimately voted for us, but pivotal to our wins are the ongoing partnerships with airlines, government agencies, business partners, retailers and volunteers who all make YVR a great airport to work in and travel through, each and everyday.
So a huge THANK YOU goes out to everyone who voted for us – it was truly appreciated.
