YVR School Tour Program: Half a decade in the books

Hello, readers! Jake here, and I'm happy to report that the YVR School Tour program has landed safely for a fifth consecutive year. Over the past three months, fellow tour guide Anna and I have taken more than 1,500 Grade 5 students on a fun and interactive tour of Canada’s second-busiest airport.

Just like travellers boarding a flight, students were equipped with their very own school program passports filled with interesting facts and activities. There is something truly special about seeing YVR for the first time through the eyes of these students - the oooohh’s and aaaahh’s as they discovered YVR's First Nations art collection, the sense of accomplishment after building and flying their signature YVR school program paper airplanes and the screams of excitement as they explored  the Public Observation Area.

I was recently asked what I like most about being a YVR school program tour guide. A tough question. But my answer has to be meeting so many bright and intelligent students. Thank you for all of your enthusiasm, questions and stories about your adventures atYVR.

I also want to offer a big thank you to all of our wonderful Green Coat ambassadors who joined our tours. Your behind-the-scenes stories and passion for our airport made these tours unforgettable. I'm happy to report that we'll be offering the school tour program again next Fall 2014, so stay posted to our blog for more updates.
