YVR Explorer Tour Set to Take Off

The school-skipping Ferris Bueller famously said, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

While many of us travel through airports in a time-pressed, head-down fashion, we hope that our new interactive guided tour program will offer community groups a chance to take Bueller’s advice and enjoy the beautiful and interesting surroundings of Vancouver International Airport.

Building upon the success of YVR’s established School Tour Program, our new Explorer Tour Program will run every Friday between March 7 and June 27, 2014. Two hour tours will run every Friday, between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. in the public area of the terminal.

Highlights will include our globally-renowned First Nation’s art collection, environmental programs, architecture, accessibility, airport operations and travel tips.  Tours will wrap up in the Public Observation Area, which features interactive exhibits and unobstructed views of the airfield out to the Strait of Georgia.

Tour participants will also have the opportunity to show off their photography skills, by taking a creative photo during the tour and tweeting it to @yvrairport using the hashtag #stayfly. The most interesting photo captured that day will earn the photographer a free lunch.

Community groups and local organizations are encouraged to apply for an Explorer Tour by visiting our website: Registration opens on January 29, 2014.
