It’s been a few days since the Japadog Eating Contest here at YVR, and we’re still reeling from all the excitement of crowning Vancouver’s top dog.
A huge crowd was on hand to cheer on the contestants as they prepared to wolf down as many Japadogs as possible in 10 minutes.
In the end, it was Ledcor employee Steve Thompson who reigned supreme and polished off seven hot dogs, averaging about one every minute and a half. Challenging his pace was the runner up, who finished six hot dogs in 10 minutes.
The first-of-its-kind contest here at the airport was part of Take-Off Fridays, a weekly summer party that happens every Friday this summer (until August 31) between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and features DJs, live performances, face painters, balloon artists, free samples and more. For details on this Friday’s highlights, check out our website.
And if you’re now hankering for a hot dog, be sure to check out Japadog – located at Chester Johnson Park outside International Arrivals, Level 2. The cart is open from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
