Roll up your sleeves on Thursday, March 10 and join YVR employees, partners and travellers as part of a one-day blood mobile donor clinic hosted by Canadian Blood Services.
The donor clinic on wheels – known as the Bloodmobile – has four comfortable donation beds and donor screening rooms to make donating blood as easy and convenient as possible. With 52 per cent of Canadians saying they or a family member have needed blood for surgery or medical treatment, a single donation can make a big difference.
The Details: The Bloodmobile will be parked on the curb outside of the International Terminal on Level 2, and will accept walk-ins and appointments from 9:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Anyone wishing to donate is encouraged to book an appointment in advance by calling 1 888 2 DONATE. Be sure to mention you want to book an appointment at the YVR Bloodmobile on March 10.
The Process: The blood donation process takes about one hour. Participants register with a piece of identification, have their blood tested for iron levels using a fingertip sample and answer a series of questions to determine eligibility before donating. After the donation has been collected, participants relax with a snack in the mobile clinic’s refreshment area.
