From a bad break-up to a holiday celebration, chocolate gets us through the worst of times – and makes the best of times even better.
Researchers say it’s because chocolate triggers feel-good chemicals in the brain, so of course we’re thrilled that an iconic B.C. company – Rogers’ Chocolates – has opened its first airport location at YVR to make our passengers even happier. Jet-setting chocolate lovers, rejoice!
Located after security near Gate 44 in Domestic Departures, our newest retailer features a full chocolate case with everything from truffles to coveted Victoria Creams. Customers can pick out a morsel or two of sweetness, or design their own chocolate box as a gift or for the long flight ahead (probably best to make two).
Canada’s first chocolatier, Charles “Candy” Rogers, began making chocolates in 1885 in the back of his grocery shop in Victoria, B.C. Today, Rogers’ Chocolates is a local institution that continues to satisfy the sweet tooth of millions every year through its fine chocolate products – still hand-wrapped.
And, as part of its 125th anniversary celebrations, Rogers’ Chocolates also has a larger-than-life historical tribute on display after security in Domestic Departures (across from its new store location) that provides an in-depth look at the history of Canada’s premier chocolatier.
