March 8th was the perfect day on Grouse Mountain for the Vancouver Adaptive Snow Sport (VASS) community to hold its 5th annual Challenge Cup. The skies were clear, the snow was plentiful and everyone’s spirits were high. Skiers of all abilities -- from former Olympians and Paralympians, to first time racers and other members of the VASS program -- showed their skill and heart as they competed for the coveted Cup.
Every year, abled and disabled skiers team together and race to see who has the most consistent times. It was all smiles as the skiers proved that with a little courage and drive, their ‘disability’ can become ‘ability’ on the mountain.
Vancouver Airport Authority is proud to be a long-time sponsor of this truly inspiring event. To learn more about VASS and its programs that make the mountains accessible to everyone, visit http://www.vass.ca.
