Plane-spotters who enjoy seeing Cathay Pacific’s Boeing 747-400 commercial flight take off and land at YVR better get out to the South Terminal Viewing Platform and take one last glimpse before Cathay Pacific retires the aircraft on Saturday, October 27.
Cathay Pacific will operate its last 747-400 on the twice-daily, non-stop YVR to Hong Kong and daily non-stop YVR to JFK on October 27 after many years of service. Come November, the route will be serviced by the fuel-efficient 777-300ER, which will feature new seats in all cabins and Cathay’s new premium economy class.
To say good-bye, we’re offering aviation enthusiasts the chance to win one of several boxed 747-400 models courtesy of Cathay Pacific Canada. To win a model, email a personal photo (one you took and have rights to!) of Cathay’s 747-400 at YVR to email@example.com. By sending us the photo, you’re also giving us permission to post the photos in an image library on our Facebook page.
Your photo does not need to be professional quality, but it must clearly show that the aircraft is a Cathay Pacific Boeing 747-400and taken at YVR (either Vancouver or the Airport in the background). If you don’t have a photo of the Cathay Pacific 747-400, be sure to get out to your favourite spotting location and take one before Saturday.
If you’re under the age of 18 and would still like to enter to win a model but don’t have a photo, you may draw, scan and email a picture of a Cathay Pacific 747-400 at YVR. Please include your name and age on the drawing, which will also be posted on our Facebook page.
Send us your photo (or drawing) before Tuesday, October 30th 2012 for a chance to be included in the contest. All submissions will be entered into a draw, and winners will be notified via email.
