Every day at YVR you can see aircraft being pulled by tugs, however it’s not every day that you see 600 people joining together to pull an aircraft for a good cause.
But that’s just what happened on May 14 at YVR. FedEx partnered with ORBIS to bring together 20 teams for the national ORBIS Pull for Sight tour. As the first stop on the tour, YVR hosted corporate teams in a competition to pull a 60-tonne Boeing 757 FedEx cargo plane 12 feet along the apron.
Raising awareness for ORBIS, the day was a great success. There was lots of determination, strength and laughs on the airfield. Alex Huynh’s team claimed the title for the fastest pull and Fairchild Radio’s team was named most enthusiastic.
ORBIS International is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing and treating blindness by providing quality eye care for children in developing nations.
