Photo of the Month: Downtown Vancouver - Canada from the Air

Every month, we pick one of the many incredible entries to our Canada from the Air photo project and feature it as our Photo of the Month. January's pick is this great shot from Howard Slutsken, a friend of YVR who tweets us awesome photos all the time. Howard snapped this photo of our hometown while departing on WestJet Encore.

So much Vancouver in one picture! You've got Canada Place sails proudly jutting into Coal Harbour. Plus there's Port Metro Vancouver, so vital to our economy, adding colour to the landscape with the red containers and machinery. There's also Stanley Park, the green jewel in the downtown crown of Vancouver, peeking out from low-hanging clouds that frame the whole shot. We try to feature images from all across the country in this regular feature, but it's hard to ignore all of the spectacular beauty right in our own backyard. Thanks for submitting, Howard!

Anybody who wants to submit to Canada from the Air can email entries to, or tweet them to @yvrairport, using the hashtag #YVRCanada. Don't forget to tell us where the photo was taken.
