This past Friday marked YVR’s 80th Anniversary. To celebrate, we held a public open house at the airport on July 22 and 23.
It was amazing to see thousands of people from the community enjoying the airport. From the small toddler getting a balloon animal made, to the former pilot recalling the days when he flew through YVR in the '60s – the terminal was full of smiling faces.
Throughout both days, we had plenty of activities to keep everyone busy. Many people enjoyed wandering through our 80 Memorable Moments photo gallery, or checking out the vintage aircraft parked at the South Terminal. Other highlights included the extremely popular Airside Ballet (which takes place again in the Observation Area this Friday at 11 a.m. as part of Take-off Fridays), balloon art, DJs, face painters and free giveaways including paper pilot hats.
Thank you to everyone who came out and helped create a memorable anniversary. As we look back at the last 80 years, we can't wait to connect B.C. to the world for another 80.
