It’s the kind of success story we love: a small B.C. company offering remote area cargo service grows to offer passenger service through a full fleet of Dash-8 aircraft, and eventually builds its customer base to sustain operations out of our Main Domestic Terminal.
The days of flying mining equipment to isolated goldmine sites in northern B.C. are long gone for Hawkair, which officially entered YVR’s big leagues on Saturday when it relocated from our South Terminal to a new position on Level 3 of our Main Domestic Terminal, between Central Mountain Air and Air North.
We’re excited to watch what the future holds for this up and coming B.C. airline, whose founders modeled it after the low-cost, short-haul beginnings of Westjet and Southwest airlines. With new growth opportunities for connections and greater ease of simplicity for passengers, the sky is – literally – the limit.
